Jerry B. Adams, President and CEO of the Arkansas Research Alliance, has recently become a member of the Board of Directors of VIC Technology Venture Development™ (VIC) of Fayetteville, Arkansas. The Arkansas Research Alliance (ARA) is an economic development non-profit with the objective of accelerating Arkansas citizens’ ability to compete in a 21st century economy. The ARA does this through its support of university research and innovation that, in turn, can be used to create new businesses and engage existing businesses to produce high-paying jobs in the state.
Before joining the Arkansas Research Alliance, Mr. Adams worked for 34 years at Acxiom Corporation in a number of different leadership capacities. He retired from Acxiom in 2007 while serving as Corporate External Relations Leader.
Mr. Adams has served as chair of Accelerate Arkansas, a statewide group of leaders focused on advancing a knowledge-based Arkansas economy. He chaired the board of the EAST initiative, a technology-based, project learning, secondary school program active in over 200 schools in Arkansas and six other states. Mr. Adams also serves on the Southern Technology Council, a group comprised of professionals in the science, technology and economic development fields seeking to strengthen the Southern economy through innovation and technology.
"We are both honored and excited to have Jerry join the VIC board," said Calvin Goforth, Chairman. “His special perspective and long-standing, hands-on involvement with growing technology companies are perfectly matched with what we do at VIC. The fit is excellent, and we extend him a warm welcome as a VIC director.”
Also involved in and passionate about education reform, Mr. Adams has served on the Governor’s Blue Ribbon Committee for Higher Education. He is currently serving on the Arkansas Department of Education's Accountability Council, the Board of Visitors at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and the University of Central Arkansas’s Advisory Board for the School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, and has recently served on the University of Arkansas’ Walton School of Business Dean’s Advisory Board.
Governor Beebe recently appointed Mr. Adams to the Governor’s Healthcare Roundtable. He is also founding board chair for the Conway Interfaith Clinic, which provides medical and dental services to underserved segments of the community.
