James W. Backstrom, M.D., Named Chief Medical Officer of Foundation Radiology Group

Dr. Backstrom received his medical degree from the University of Pittsburgh and his B.S. degree in Biology from Westminster College. He served his internal medicine internship at the Bethesda Naval Hospital. Dr. Backstrom served as a General Medical Officer with the Marine Corps at Quantico, Virginia where he was awarded the Naval Commendation Medal and Naval Achievement Medal. He completed his Radiology Residency and Adult Neuroradiology Fellowship at Duke University, completed a Pediatric Radiology Fellowship at The Children's Hospital of Buffalo, New York and a Pediatric Neuroradiology Fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. Dr. Backstrom has been Board Certified by the American College of Radiology since 1993. He will be based out of Foundation Radiology Group's headquarters and Diagnostic Imaging Reading Center in Downtown Pittsburgh.
