James W. Backstrom, M.D., Named Chief Medical Officer of Foundation Radiology Group

PITTSBURGH, April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Pittsburgh-based Foundation Radiology Group (FRG), a full-service radiology provider which uses board-certified radiologists to interpret diagnostic images for hospitals announced today that James W. Backstrom, M.D., has been appointed to the position of Chief Medical Officer. The appointment is another step in FRG's development of a nationwide network of radiology physician groups to provide hospitals, imaging centers and other clients with 24/7/365 diagnostic imaging services.

Dr. Backstrom is currently the President of the Pittsburgh Roentgen Society (PRS) and was previously a member of Lucien Diagnostic Imaging. While affiliated with Lucien, he served in a wide variety of management capacities, including Director of Pediatric Services, Physician Marketing Coordinator, Director of Armstrong Outpatient Imaging Center and Chairman of Radiology for Armstrong County Memorial Hospital. Additionally he was a member of Lucien's Board of Directors from 2003 to 2006. Prior to arriving in Pittsburgh, Dr. Backstrom was a member of the Board of Directors for Advanced Radiology Services in Grand Rapids, Michigan and participated in a series of group mergers which helped to change the face of radiology in western Michigan. Dr. Backstrom brings over 20 years of experience combining, world-class radiology care with innovative and compassionate patient care solutions.
