Introducing Laboratory Evaluations for Integrative and Functional Medicine
Date:5/16/2008

DULUTH, Ga., May 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Metametrix Institute ( http://www.metametrixinstitute.org ) announced today the publication of Laboratory Evaluations for Integrative and Functional Medicine, 2nd Edition, written and edited by Richard S. Lord and J. Alexander Bralley. This book follows the original edition by Bralley and Lord, Laboratory Evaluations in Molecular Medicine, published in 2001. The institute is the new educational arm of Metametrix Inc., a leader in nutritional and metabolic testing services.

This second edition incorporates the most recent advances in the fields of integrative and functional medicine testing, focusing on the factors underlying patient health and disease. Some of the latest insights into laboratory testing for nutritional, biochemical, and metabolic imbalances are explored in over 80 case illustrations. The extensive foundation of scientific literature, including over 3800 citations, supports the clinical applications for this area of medicine.

"Building on the successful framework of the previous edition," Dr. Richard Lord, a co-editor stated, "the task of this latest text was updating and expanding content while adding extensive color figures, tables and case illustrations from cover to cover, to make this book a valued clinician desk reference." The new text was written to organize and explain the various tests that are available so as to make their study and use more applicable to medical education and clinical practice, Lord said. "We hope that the new book will help lead to better understanding of human health and of how the clinical laboratory can provide tools to identify problem areas that respond to the gentle and effective therapies of focused nutrient additions and toxicant removals. It is time for the entire spectrum of healthcare providers to move toward the use of such assessments as a routine clinical protocol for patients with chronic
