Ikonopedia Showcases New MQSA Management System and Reporting Modules at Intensive Breast Ultrasound Meeting
Date:9/11/2014

ARLINGTON, Va., Sept. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Ikonopedia will showcase its new MQSA management system along with four new breast imaging reporting modules here at the Intensive Breast Ultrasound Meeting, September 11-14, 2014.  The additions to Ikonopedia's revolutionary suite of report generation software tools based on indexing breast findings based on what they look like rather than what they are called, are designed to help streamline processes, improve reporting efficiency, and optimize facility operations.

Ikonopedia expanded its suite of report generation software tools to include Screening MRI, Diagnostic MRI, Diagnostic Ultrasound, and Biopsy in addition to Screening and Diagnostic Mammography.  For each reporting modality, context-specific images and educational materials are available via a reference library drawn from the teaching files and maintained by Ikonopedia founders and contributors, including Laszlo Tabar, MD (mammography).  The new Diagnostic Ultrasound module is based upon the teaching files of Thomas Stavros, MD, one of Ikonopedia's founders and author of Breast Ultrasound, one of the most popular reference books in the field of breast ultrasound.   The new MRI modules were developed from the teaching libraries and knowledge-base of founder Michael Vendrell, MD and contributor Steven E. Harmes, MD.

While Ikonopedia's proprietary drag-and-drop lesion locator has been customized for each of the new reporting modalities, all have the same consistent layout for efficiency.  All reports are guaranteed to be 100% BI-RADS® language compliant and current with the Atlas 5th Edition.  The Ikonopedia reporting interface is fast without sacrificing accuracy and built-in metrics show a median screening report time of 33 seconds — with many under 10 seconds – and many reporting errors common with dictation such as inappropriate BI-RADS®, incomplete reports, and wrong-side reporting are eliminated automatically.

The new MQSA notification and follow-up system can manage all patient tracking and communication including letters, phone calls, and certified/registered mail based on customized user-defined protocols.  Ikonopedia provides flexibility in all required patient notifications and letters can be personalized by BI-RADS category, breast density, exam-type, and risk assessment score, and can be batch printed with facility logos and government-mandated language. With the letter filter system, patients with dense breasts or high risk score can receive a context-specific letter that is appropriate for them.

Ikonopedia's breast ultrasound reporting package was recently named a semi-finalist for Best New Radiology Software in 2014 edition of the Minnies, AuntMinnie.com's campaign to recognize the best and brightest in medical imaging.  Ikonopedia was also named a candidate for Best New Radiology Vendor. "Ikonopedia was founded on the premise of developing breast imaging reporting tools that enable a new level of quality and productivity.  Building on the success of the mammography reporting modules, the new MQSA management system and expanded suite of reporting packages enable users to report, notify, track, and remind all from one integrated system," said Emily Crane, CEO, Ikonopedia.

Designed to optimize workflow for the radiologist and breast imagers, Ikonopedia's suite of breast imaging report generation software tools are based on indexing breast findings based on what they look like rather than what they are called.  As the radiologist selects images on the Ikonopedia screen that most closely match the patient's images, a structured language report is generated from a standardized lexicon.

About Ikonopedia
Ikonopedia, LLC was founded by three expert breast imaging radiologists: Laszla Tabar, MD, A. Thomas Stavros, MD, and Michael J. Vendrell, MD.  Ikonopedia is an image-based breast study interpretation and reporting tool designed to interface with multiple Radiology PACS and Information Systems. Tabar, Stavros, and Vendrell is available whenever the Radiologist might want to seek further knowledge for accurate diagnosis. For more information, visit www.ikonopedia.com.
