"We are excited to bring together the leading-edge practitioners to share ideas in this new area for health care investors," said IBF Conferences President & CEO Alexandra Scott. "Cleveland is the right location for this event given its prominence in health care investment with the region's many players already 'going global' to partner with start-ups. We are extremely pleased to partner with BioEnterprise to present this event given their success in working with global start-ups."
Scott cited the existence of many community initiatives in Cleveland that are focused on recruiting emerging technology companies from overseas. As an example, the BioEnterprise Initiative has already attracted nine venture-funded start-up companies from overseas locations such as Israel, Russia and Japan to the area.
"While other high-technology sectors attract global investment, global investing in healthcare ventures is still in its early stages," said BioEnterprise President Baiju R. Shah. "We are pleased to co-host this event with IBF given their leadership in organizing international investment gatherings."
The conference will also include a company showcase featuring 20 venture-backed healthcare companies from outside the U.S. that are looking for Series B or later investment rounds.
BioEnterprise is a business formation, recruitment, and acceleration effort designed to support the growth of bioscience companies. Located in Cleveland, BioEnterprise provides management counsel and support services to health care companies. BioEnterprise's partners are Case Western Reserve University, the Cleveland Clinic, University Hospitals, and Summa Health System.
