LAKE FOREST, Ill., Feb. 25 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --Hospira, Inc. (NYSE: HSP), a leading global specialty pharmaceutical and medication delivery company, today announced the introduction of the GemStar(R) SP infusion system with GemStar(TM) Infusion Suite software, an advanced version of the market-leading, multi-application, GemStar pump. The GemStar SP infusion system is designed to help caregivers better incorporate patient safety best practices right at the patient's bedside.

GemStar SP incorporates GemStar Infusion Suite software, a stand-alone personal computer (PC)-based application designed to enhance safe and efficient medication administration. "The new GemStar Infusion Suite software allows clinicians to quickly recall a pre-configured drug safety suite for safer, and more efficient drug delivery," said Steven Pregulman, M.D., global medical director, Device Development, Hospira. "The advancements made with GemStar SP reinforce Hospira's position as a leading provider of safety medication administration products for all infusion needs."
