Heyer Medical AG and Sengex Introduce BitSafe DS-PHI at Medica for Advanced Patient Health Information Collection and Security
Date:11/20/2013

Bad Ems, Germany; Mclean, U.S. (PRWEB) November 21, 2013

HEYER Medical, AG in partnership with its cyber-security technology integrator, SENGEX, will be introducing at Medica 2013, BitSafe DS-PHI, providing increased situation awareness data and security to patient anesthesia Patient Health Information (PHI).

BitSafe DS-PHI enables anesthesia providers to easily interface to patient monitoring equipment, document patient and procedure information, convert it to the required format, and store it securely in the Healthcare Providers Information Systems (HPIS) that could be on the local network, remote network or in a cloud-based architecture.

BitSafe DS-PHI performs the interaction between the anesthesiologists and the medical equipment, cryptographically splits PHI and weaves Information Security into the data, and then stores these splits or shares in multiple, separate locations as defined by the healthcare provider.

BitSafe DS-PHI requires no modifications to the medical devices, no alterations to Electronic Healthcare/Medical Records, changes to the healthcare provider’s network security policies or additional IT networking software.

“During a procedure, anesthesia provider gathers more PHI data than any other healthcare provider, and sharing of this data with other healthcare providers that may be locally or remotely provides greater visibility into the patient’s condition both pre-op, during the operation, as well as post-op,” said Klaus Schickhaus, president of Heyer Medical AG. “BitSafe DS-PHI meets the demands of anesthesia providers to easily interact, and add content to the machine data, while in parallel meet the needs of healthcare administrators to assure compliance with their internal and HIPAA requirements for PHI management.”

“Along with its value of providing increased patient situational awareness, the advanced transport and storage security component of BitSafe DS-PHI eliminates the risk of PHI access by unauthorized personnel,” said John Meincke, CEO of Sengex. “This enables healthcare provides to leverage cost efficient cloud-based storage, while assuring they meet their HIPAA obligations and avoid costly HIPAA penalties associated with the loss or stealing of PHI data.”

BitSafe DS-PHI can be easily extendable to other healthcare provider organizations and applications beyond anesthesia that have need for enhanced patient data collection with secure storage and sharing.
