Health Robotics Expands i.v.STATION(TM) Partnership With Can-Med in 10 Countries Within Central Asia
Date:2/23/2009

BOZEN, Italy, February 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Health Robotics and Can-Med today announced that they have signed a definitive agreement whereby Can-Med has acquired the exclusive distribution rights to Health Robotics' i.v.STATION robot in Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Iran, Mongolia, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan. i.v.STATION is the world's first and only automated, point-of-care-distributed, and fail-safe robotic system for the sterile and accurate preparation of non-hazardous intravenous medications. In consideration for the acquisition of i.v.STATION five years' exclusive distribution rights, Can-Med has issued Health Robotics with purchase orders for an additional 129 i.v.STATION robots.

The primary challenges in today's I.V. Admixture operations are serious medication errors, high costs, turn-around time, waste, regulatory issues, lack of audit trails, motion injuries, space constraints and difficulty in maintaining adequate and trained staff. i.v.STATION was designed to address these issues and overcome the fact that until now, the range of products and technology available to mitigate these challenges has consisted of variations on the IV "piggyback" bag, outsourcing of IVs, and partial robotic solutions that have seen very limited adoption and success.

"i.v.STATION represents a revolutionary approach in the quest for safe, accurate, efficient, and cost effective I.V. Admixtures. It offers unprecedented and life-critical patient safety, robotic precision and performance, all within a scalable and fail-safe architecture. We are committed to replicate the success of the CytoCare(TM) pay-per-use model with i.v.STATION beyond our home market in Turkey. The distributed nature of i.v.STATION permits its deployment where it matters most, at the direct patient care locations," stated Hilmi Sunay, General Manager of Can-Med I.V. Solutions.
