Health Robotics Announces December Launch of the i.v.SOFT(TM) Workflow Engine at ASHP in Las Vegas
Date:11/4/2009

BOZEN, Italy, November 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Health Robotics today announced the worldwide presentation and launch of its new i.v.SOFT Workflow Engine at the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists' Mid-Year Meeting December 6-10 in Las Vegas. With the availability of the i.v.SOFT Workflow Engine, Health Robotics becomes the first and only company in the world to provide a total automation solution to fill the void of automated process control and patient safety in the I.V. Room.

i.v.SOFT's Workflow Engine represents a an additional revolutionary step by Health Robotics in completing its vision to fully automate IV Admixtures by providing state-of-the-art software automation tools to address the IV preparation of patient doses that cannot be physically handled by robotics technology due to a variety of reasons, such as hospital choices of ampoules, non-standard IV Bags, diverse Elastomeric infusion devices, etc.

The primary challenges in today's IV Admixture operations are serious medication errors such as drug exchange and accuracy mistakes, high costs, life-critical turn-around time, intravenous drugs waste, regulatory issues, and difficulty in maintaining adequately trained clinical staff. While market-leading robots CytoCare(TM) and i.v.STATION(TM) automatically and aseptically compound the majority of hazardous and non-hazardous IV doses, hospitals have demanded complementary automation solutions for the 20-30% of IV doses (depending on local market requirements) that need to be routed to manual compounding on BSCs (biological safety cabinets). i.v.SOFT Workflow Engine offers worldwide hospital pharmacies the ability to have their pharmacy technicians work more efficiently while at the same time reducing costs due to IV Admixtures that are typically lost or re-made.
