Health & Technology Leaders Invited to Participate in Co-Design of Health Care Delivery

PITTSBURGH, Aug. 12, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- On September 18th, Mark Bonchek, PhD and pioneer in digital technology, will share the podium with six other multidisciplinary presenters at a Delivering Value in Healthcare Series Conference. The event, which will be held in Pittsburgh, PA, is attracting decision makers in technology and health care, as well as entrepreneurs from across the nation. Those who cannot attend in person are urged to attend via simulcast.

Dr. Bonchek, CEO of SHIFT Thinking and keynote speaker at the September conference, was the first to earn a doctorate on the topic of social media and digital engagement from Harvard University. He and other speakers will discuss methodologies to successfully engage patients and families in the co-design of health care platforms.

Discounted conference rates are available to entrepreneurs and leaders in health care and technology who register by the end of August.  Those outside of Pittsburgh can attend via simulcast.

"Patients are no longer willing to be simply consumers of health care," says Dr. Bonchek. "They want to, and should be, participants in deciding how health care is delivered. The mental shift from consumer to co-creator," he adds, "is beginning to overturn outdated health care models." According to Dr. Bonchek, transformations resulting from co-designed health care delivery will benefit patients and families in need of cancer, cardiac and elder care, as well as community health care.

The Co-Creating Health Care Conference will be hosted by the AMD3 Foundation. Founder, Anthony M. DiGioia III, MD, has established his career at the intersection of health care and technology. A practicing orthopaedic surgeon, Dr. DiGioia was trained as a civil and biomedical engineer at Carnegie Mellon University, before attending Harvard Medical School. He has developed groundbreaking methodologies in patient and family-centered care delivery.

Dr. DiGioia notes that clinical outcomes and experiences improve significantly when health care processes are co-designed by patients and their families, caregivers, providers, insurers and employers.  "Building multidisciplinary partnerships is the only way we will successfully transform the health care system and deliver value."

In addition to Dr. DiGioia and Dr. Bonchek, executives from several startup and established companies will be on hand to share technologies and processes that are changing the face of healthcare, such as connected and wearable technology, patient-centered remote care and partnerships among payers, providers and innovators.
