Date:10/15/2007

ST. LOUIS, Oct. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- SAFC Supply Solutions(R), an SAFC(R) focus area and member of the Sigma-Aldrich(TM) group (Nasdaq: SIAL), has announced that 350 food-grade products have been Halal certified and are now available within its extensive Flavors & Fragrances (F&F) aroma chemicals product line http://www.sigmaaldrich.com/SAFC/Supply_Solutions_Flavors.html.

The Halal certification follows a successful American Institute of Baking (AIB) cGMP facilities audit in June 2007, which resulted in food-grade certification for these products. SAFC Supply Solutions worked closely with The Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America to ensure that the specified products were in complete compliance with Halal standards. In addition, SAFC plans to add a large number of Halal-certified products to its F&F offering by year-end.

SAFC Supply Solutions has designed its comprehensive F&F quality management system to be compliant with global food-grade standards, including EC/178/2002, 88/388/EEC and 21 CFR 110, across the vast range of its products and is one of the leading suppliers to offer food-grade products in difficult-to-obtain quantities of 25 Kg or less.

Judy Pruss, Marketing Manager, SAFC Supply Solutions, said, "After extending our Flavors & Fragrances offer to include food-grade certified products earlier this year, we are now extremely pleased to receive Halal certification from the Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America. This certification is very important to key Middle East and Asia markets, where we anticipate our Halal-certified F&F products will be well received."

The complete listing of Halal-certified products is highlighted on the SAFC Supply Solutions Web site, http://www.safcsupplysolutions.com. This site also features the entire product range of sy
