HCCS Releases New Health Plan Compliance Online Training Course

JERICHO, N.Y., Dec. 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/-- Health Care Compliance Strategies, Inc. (HCCS), the leading provider of online healthcare compliance and competency training, today announced the release of a new online training course, Health Plan Compliance: Fraud, Waste, and Abuse. The new course educates health plan employees, contractors and vendors on detecting, correcting, and preventing fraud, waste, and abuse.

Every year, millions of dollars are improperly spent because of fraud, waste, and abuse. All health plans that pay claims for beneficiaries of government healthcare programs are required to complete compliance training as part of an effective compliance program. The consequences of committing fraud, waste or abuse include civil money penalties, criminal convictions and fines, civil prosecution, imprisonment, loss of provider license, and/or exclusion from Federal healthcare programs.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requires all Medicare Advantage and Part D plan sponsors to provide annual compliance training to all staff, as well as first tier or downstream entities they partner with to provide services.
