Genstruct Names Louis Latino VP of Sales

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., Sept. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Genstruct Inc., a systems biology company focused on identifying molecular mechanisms, networks and biomarkers to better develop novel therapeutics and molecular diagnostics, announced today that it has appointed Louis Latino as VP of Sales. As part of Genstruct's executive management team, Mr. Latino will lead the company's global sales efforts, focusing on building the company's sales infrastructure to drive future growth.

In his role as VP of Sales, Mr. Latino will be responsible for managing and expanding partnerships with existing customers while leveraging the Genstruct platform to expand the company's consulting services and partnership business through the development of new partnerships and collaborations within the global biotechnology, pharmaceutical and related industries.

"Earlier this year we launched our Consulting Services division, and we have rapidly grown this business to the point that we need to build a world- class sales team to manage its growth. Lou Latino has both the experience and expertise we need to manage the growth of this business," said Keith O. Elliston, Ph.D., president and CEO of Genstruct. "He is ideally suited to extend the impact of the Genstruct platform throughout the life sciences sector. His wealth of management experience with early-stage companies and his outstanding sales record in the life sciences industry are the key qualities we need to expand our current partnerships and our customer base."

"Genstruct's Causal Network(TM) modeling platform has been vital to the development of safe and effective new drugs for our partners," said Mr. Latino. "As Genstruct's team of scientists and technology experts focus on new approaches to better understand and treat complex diseases, I see this as an opportunity to leverage the company's successes to broaden its impact across the industry."

Mr. Latino has nearly 30 years of senior sales management and direct sales experience. Prior to joining Genstruct, he was VP of North America, Life Sciences Sales and Support for Accelrys, Inc., a developer of a broad range of technologies, including computer-aided-molecular-design and scientific business intelligence software. He honed his life sciences expertise as VP of Worldwide Sales for Geneformatics and as a regional sales manager for Biosym Technologies. In both positions, he exceeded revenue goals and increased profitability for the respective companies, while enhancing the impact of their technologies.

Mr. Latino has also held senior sales positions with Superscape Group, Mitchell Management Systems and BIW Cable Systems. He earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Boston College.
