Date:5/25/2010

Since 2005, the company has improved the health and nutrition profile of products representing 50 percent of its U.S. Retail business. General Mills has reduced the number of calories in its products, reduced fat, sugar and sodium, added vitamins, calcium, whole grain, and increased fiber. The company now has more than 640 U.S. retail products with 130 calories or less per serving, and 460 U.S. retail products with 100 calories or less per serving.

“Partners like General Mills have been our focus since the NC Research Campus was first envisioned and we are extremely excited to add another outstanding corporate partner to our list of industry collaborators,” says Clyde Higgs, Vice President, Business Development for the Research Campus.

About the NC Research Campus
The Campus is a public-private partnership on 350-acres of real estate in Kannapolis (Charlotte); it combines the research power of nine world-renowned universities and colleges, as well as the DHMRI in a single campus setting. In addition to General Mills, other companies that have a presence today at the Campus include Monsanto, LabCorp, Dole Food Inc, Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute, Carolinas Medical Center, and Sensory Spectrum. This mission of the Campus is to improve the human health, by transformational research at the intersection of agriculture, nutrition, and human health.
