Navigation Links and Facebook Campaign Launched to Raise Awareness of Fight to Make Genetic Testing for Breast and Other Cancers More Affordable and Accessible

HOUSTON, Sept. 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Responding to growing frustration over continuing legal obstructions that keep genetic testing unaffordable, and in some cases inaccessible, Gene By Gene, Ltd. has launched the campaign and Facebook page to help spread awareness about this historic issue. is dedicated to spreading awareness about the rights of individuals to access their own genetic information with a provider of their choice, while promoting more affordable and efficient genetic testing to improve the lives of people everywhere.

Genetic testing is critical to understanding individuals' unique risks for breast, ovarian and other types of cancers early on, allowing them more time to assess their treatment and preventative care options.  In the long-run, the information researchers and clinicians are able to gather from these tests will lead to better understanding, and more successful diagnosis and treatment, of these types of diseases.

Individuals can show their support by visiting, where users can use the "Free My Genes" profile picture maker, to add a frame to their current profile picture voicing their support of this important cause. 

The feedback from supporters is clear so far.  In the first 48 hours, more than 5,000 people "liked" the Facebook page.

Gene By Gene is committing $1 for each "Like" on the Facebook page towards the retail price of its breast cancer testing, up to the amount of $100,000.  The company will work with advocates and foundations to determine appropriate candidates, carefully selected on the basis of financial need and other criteria.
