Finesse Launches the VirtualTransmitter Module and TruFluor Transmitter Blades for Seamless Integration of Single-Use Sensors Into Bioreactor Control
Date:3/23/2011

SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 23, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Finesse Solutions, LLC, a manufacturer of measurement and control solutions for life science process applications, has announced the official launch of the VirtualTransmitter core module for interfacing to TruFluor® pH and dissolved oxygen (DO) single-use sensors.

TruBio® DV continues to be powered by a DeltaV Controller from Emerson Process Management, and VirtualTransmitter is fully compatible with DeltaV versions 10.3 and 11.3.  TruFluor pH and DO blades are offered as an option (either single or redundant) in all T700 and T300 hardware platforms.  The VirtualTransmitter module is fully integrated and validated in TruBio DV 4.0 software.

The TruFluor blades are the core electronics of the regular TruFluor transmitter, but have a digital communication option enabled.  They minimize both the footprint and cost of implementing single-use sensor technology.  The VirtualTransmitter module allows digital communication between a controller and TruFluor transmitter blades, enabling diagnostics, alarms, and automated calibration information transfer.  The VirtualTransmitter has the same look and feel as the original physical transmitter, but is operated from any HMI touchscreen. The RFID back-up system for the entering the calibration data has been replaced by the ability to download an emailed file or upload it directly from a memory stick.

"As single-use sensors become the de facto standard in bioprocessing, end users will expect them to be perfectly integrated into both the hardware and software of the control platform.  VirtualTransmitter and TruFluor blades represent the next generation evolution of our single-use bioreactor control product line.  Today, almost every Finesse control system shipped, even into cGMP, utilizes this technology.  We expect the adoption rate of this platform to continue accelerating in the futur
