Date:3/31/2009

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., March 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Fina Technologies, Inc. today announced that it named Dr. Christopher Ahlberg, a pioneering entrepreneur and scientist, and founder of Spotfire, Inc., to its Board of Directors.

Dr. Ahlberg most previously was Executive Vice President, Tibco, Inc., and President of Tibco's Spotfire division, dating back to 2007. Prior to TIBCO, Dr. Ahlberg was the founder and CEO of Spotfire, Inc., a provider of enterprise analytics software for next generation business intelligence and scientific applications. Dr. Ahlberg was named among the World's Top Young Innovators by Technology Review, MIT's Magazine of Innovation, in 2002. Dr. Ahlberg earned his doctorate from Chalmers University of Technology, has worked as a visiting researcher at the University of Maryland, and has lectured and consulted extensively for industry, academia, and the military -- as well as published and lectured in computer science, psychology, linguistics, biology, and chemistry.

"Fina Technologies has a unique opportunity to leverage Gene Network Sciences' REFS(TM) model learning and simulation platform, which has been used in biological systems for several years, to gain an advantage in quantitative finance," said Dr. Ahlberg. "I am looking forward to using my experience with these types of data to help Fina push this application forward."

Dr. Ahlberg also serves as a Board member of Apptus Technologies AB and the Hult International Business School.

"Christopher will be an invaluable asset to Fina, given his experience in building Spotfire, from the startup phase onward," said Josh Holden, CEO of Fina Technologies. "We will fully utilize his insights and intuition as to how to best apply and develop our technology for our applications."
