CHANDLER, Ariz., April 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
WHAT:
Yulex Corporation develops bio-based materials derived from the U.S.-grown guayule plant as a replacement for traditional rubbers. The process is environmentally friendly and sustainable, and the residual agricultural materials are utilized as a feedstock for bioenergy. Production of this bio-based material is ecologically responsible and carbon neutral, resulting in a new generation of green products.
A worldwide rubber shortage exists due to ever-growing demand, political forces, weather changes and antiquated production methodology. Guayule is the solution. A combination of performance, ecological sensitivity, safety and a return to industry in the U.S. is driving the adoption of this new high-performance material.
Unlike synthetic materials, guayule does not require petroleum additives in the production process. Also, the combination of carbon-sequestering during the growing of guayule with a low energy aqueous manufacturing process results in a material that is carbon negative.
