NEW YORK, December 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
- The American Journal of Medicine
The American Journal of Medicine (AJM), one of Elsevier's flagship health
sciences journals, has introduced the American Journal of Medicine blog
(http://amjmed.blogspot.com), a dynamic forum where physicians and other
healthcare professionals can discuss the research and applications for
clinical practice that have been published in the Journal.
"The American Journal of Medicine has been a leading medical journal for
more than 50 years," comments Joseph S. Alpert, MD, Professor of Medicine,
University of Arizona College of Medicine and Editor-in-Chief of the Journal.
"The editorial and administrative arms of the Journal and publisher Elsevier
feel that the time is right to take greater advantage of the interactivity
and social networking opportunities offered by the web. Therefore we have
launched the AJM blog. We welcome opinion, relevant statistics, quotations
from other sources, rational and thoughtful commentary and academic debate.
Our expectation is that the Journal's blog will spark informative - perhaps
even spirited - discussions, similar to those found on other media blogs. We
want to know what our readers think about what we are publishing."
Primary content for the blog is taken from the pages of the Journal
including most editorials, commentaries and lead research articles.
Blog submissions that do not adhere to the standard of quality and level
of professionalism appropriate to the Journal and its readership will not be
accepted. Blog submissions are limited to 150 words and selected references
supporting a particular point are allowed. Material posted on the blog is not
published by AJM and therefore will not be cited as a manuscript or letter in
AJM; submissions will not have AJM or PubMed citations.
