Elsevier, a world-leading provider of scientific, technical and medical information products and services, today announced the availability of Elsevier Urban & Fischer Journal Archives, three new backfile collections in the life and health sciences, on SciVerse ScienceDirect.

The new backfiles, published in English under the renowned German imprint Urban & Fischer, contain journals concerning immunology and microbiology, medicine, and biochemistry (the biochemistry collection is scheduled for release in mid-November). The archives extend from1970, when the articles were first published in English, to 2000 and seamlessly link to volumes starting from 2001 already available on SciVerse ScienceDirect.

"Foundational discoveries by German scientists have made significant contributions to today's global research landscape," said Bas Straub, Publishing Director, Elsevier. "These new archives support both research and teaching.  Through these archives, the discovery of the past will enable researchers and teachers to explore the historical precedents that influence the science of today and tomorrow."
