Acerca de la hemofilia y otros trastornos hemorrágicos
La hemofilia, la enfermedad de von Willebrand, las alteraciones heredadas de plaquetas y otras deficiencias de factor constituyen trastornos hemorrágicos de por vida que impiden la correcta coagulación de la sangre. Las personas que sufren un trastorno de coagulación no tienen determinado factor de coagulación o una proteína en sangre que controla las hemorragias en cantidades suficientes, o bien no funcionan adecuadamente. La gravedad de un trastorno hemorrágico suele depender del faltante o la inoperatividad del factor coagulante alterado. Las personas con hemofilia pueden padecer hemorragias no controladas derivadas de heridas de aparentemente poca importancia. El sangrado al interior de articulaciones y músculos es sumamente doloroso y puede causar discapacidad, mientras que el sangrado al interior de órganos importantes, como el cerebro, puede provocar la muerte.
