El Proyecto Recuperación transforma hemoderivados en medicina para la hemofilia en países en desarrollo

e cooperación internacional se firmaron en julio de 2013 y ya se han dado los primeros pasos para la producción. La WFH recibirá las primeras entregas de factor VIII en 2014.

"Valoramos enormemente la manera en que los socios hicieron frente a los numerosos obstáculos jurídicos, técnicos, comerciales y de normatividad hasta consolidar la iniciativa, y esperamos que otros países sigan el ejemplo de Canadá".

El factor VIII, una proteína esencial para la coagulación, se encuentra en el crioprecipitado, uno de los componentes del plasma. No se necesita todo el crioprecipitado del plasma de los donadores que acuden a Canadian Blood Services para producir factor VIII para los pacientes canadienses y, hasta ahora, el excedente se desechaba. Gracias al Proyecto Recuperación, GRIFOLS rescatará el crioprecipitado en su planta en Estados Unidos y BIOTEST lo transportará a Alemania para su producción. El producto farmacéutico terminado será fabricado y puesto a disposición del mercado bajo licencia de BIOTEST y con la marca comercial Haemoctin, un producto de factor VIII de alta pureza y doble desactivación de virus para tratar la hemofilia A. Una parte será comercializada por BIOTEST y otra asignada a CBS para ser donada a la WFH. BIOTEST brindará también apoyo a la WFH en la distribución del Haemoctin donado en los países receptores. La alianza no implica costes para ninguna de las partes.
