RESTON, Virginia, February 5, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --

Ekahau Inc., the high-performance leader in Wi-Fi-based Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS) today announced 45% year-over-year revenue growth in 2012. Ekahau's solid growth was driven by strong adoption of the Ekahau safety alert solution and the release of the Ekahau Vision™ 2.0 business intelligence platform.

Leveraging an additional $10M of venture funding received during 2012, Ekahau accelerated new product introductions including the B4 safety badge and the Ekahau Vision™ software platform. Ekahau also increased its resources dedicated to customer-focused operations by more than 25%, and has more initiatives planned in 2013, including the launch of a Product Advisory Council (PAC) and an upgraded customer support portal.

Ekahau also sold 57% more safety badges in 2012 versus the previous year, mainly due to the introduction of the new B4 safety badge. Ekahau safety badges worn by staff and first responders enable 2-way messaging and badge LED screens display the real-time location of a distressed party. Badge sales growth was fueled by new demand from behavioral health, education, mining, oil and gas, and manufacturing customers seeking to reduce emergency response times through improved visibility and communications.

In the second half of the year, Ekahau introduced the Ekahau Vision™ 2.0 software platform that offers reporting tools, customizable dashboards and advanced business intelligence capabilities to its customers. Ekahau Vision™ is designed to improve operations decision-making with location and event-based alerting that enables work-flow automation.

"I'm very pleased with Ekahau's strong performance in 2012 and excited about the opportunities we see heading into 2013, specifically around our staff safety offering," said Mark Norris , President and CEO of Ekahau. "I believe our performance this year validates Ekahau's focus on bringing our customers innovative solutions that increase operational efficiencies and keep people safe."
