Date:10/21/2008

ANN ARBOR, Mich., Oct. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- October 31 is the last day to receive early-bird pricing for attending the MichBio Expo, the state's largest and premier gathering of biosciences professionals in Michigan. The MichBio Expo will take place on November 18 and 19 at the Rock Financial ShowPlace in Novi, MI. It is the 4th Annual Expo presented by MichBio, the association for the biosciences industry in Michigan.

Exhibit booth prices also go up Nov. 1. Nearly all networking takes in the Exhibit Hall, which is open for 10 hours during the two days of the Expo, including the Opening Reception on Nov. 18 and networking breaks and lunch on Nov. 19. "The Hall provides an excellent setting for connecting with industry decision makers, potential partners, and peers," said Stephen Rapundalo, Ph.D., MichBio president & CEO.

Oct. 31 is also the last day for award nominations for the "Innovator of the Year" and "Good to Great" Awards that will be presented on November 19. The Innovator of the Year Award celebrates an early-stage innovator in the Michigan biosciences community who has played a significant role in developing a breakthrough technology, process, therapeutic or product with commercial potential, either in an academic or industry setting.

The Good to Great Award recognizes a Michigan biosciences company that has raised the bar for itself and others by taking a solid performance and making it great. This company should be one whose business concept, entrepreneurialism, leadership, work ethic, and execution have melded in just the right way to produce a leap forward in the past year that has the potential to have an important commercialization outcome.

"We've added a number of new programs to this year's Expo, including the Innovator of the Year and Good to Great awards," Rapundalo said. "We're looking forward to the best Expo yet."
