Door Security at Genzyme, a Sanofi Company, Enhanced with Door Detective from Smarter Security
Date:5/21/2013

Austin, TX (PRWEB) May 21, 2013

Smarter Security, Inc., provider of premium, innovative entrance control and outdoor security solutions, today announced that Genzyme, a Sanofi company and leading biotech company, recently ordered several more units of Door Detective® CL for a multi-use facility in the United States. With Door Detective units already installed in four other Genzyme buildings, this latest order underscores the satisfaction and success the company has had with the tailgate detection device improving doorway access control.

“We recommend Door Detective to our operations where the business managers are seeking a ‘single-person entrance’ at an access controlled door – it is our standard,” said Bhavesh Patel, Senior Director, Security Services & Technology for Sanofi. “We have used all three models of Door Detective and they all work great in reducing tailgaters and the more common problem of piggybacking. We prefer the CL model because it has superior aesthetics that complement many of our buildings.”

The recent order for Door Detective CL will be deployed to further secure exit doors used by Genzyme employees at a large building that contains both offices and research facilities. Door Detective alarms trigger CCTV cameras to capture any violations in real-time so security officers can respond appropriately. In addition to placing Door Detective CL in many office buildings, Genzyme previously installed the EL model in stairwells where aesthetics are not as important and used the Compact model where space around the door was constrained.

“Genzyme started with Smarter Security as a Fastlane® optical turnstile customer ten years ago, and we are happy to extend our partnership with them as the company works to secure its facilities throughout North America,” said Jeff Brown, CEO of Smarter Security. “Standard access control is not enough in the biotech industry where sensitive operations and valuable intellectual property are involved. Across industries, more companies are beginning to see the value of closing the typical gap in access control as we had a record number of orders for Door Detective last year.”

Door Detective from Smarter Security is a tailgate detection and direction control system that enhances security on an access-controlled door by securing the door once it has been opened. By creating a field of infrared beams across the doorway and using intelligent algorithms to profile what moved through, Door Detective forces authorization for each person while minimizing false alarms. Door Detective is available in three models, the EL, CL, and Compact, which has the smallest profile on the doorway.
