Docucopies.com Donates $1,000 to the Epilepsy Foundation of Northern California, Spotlights Organization on Their Website
Date:11/7/2014

San Luis Obispo, California (PRWEB) November 06, 2014

Though they may not be aware, most people reading this have probably known someone with epilepsy. It could be a friend or family member, a coworker, or just someone met in passing.

Though epilepsy is the third most common neurological disorder in the United States, it remains one of the least understood by the general public. Even many kinds of seizures would go unnoticed by those unfamiliar with the symptoms.

This month the online digital printing company, Docucopies.com, donated $1,000 to the Epilepsy Foundation of Northern California, who work hard to improve the lives of those afflicted with seizure disorders through advocacy, increasing public awareness, providing legal defense against discrimination, summer camp programs for children, generating funding for research for a cure, and more.

Afflicting 3 million Americans, epilepsy is more common than Parkinson's Disease, cerebral palsy and multiple sclerosis combined. Yet despite this, it receives only a fraction of the research funding other diseases receive.

"That disparity in public and private funding and general awareness of epilepsy is unfortunate," says Roe Pressley, who works in public relations and philanthropy for Docucopies.com. "Organizations like the Epilepsy Foundation work to make a real difference in the lives of the millions of Americans with epilepsy and they need all the help they can get."
