De nouvelles études établissent un lien mortel entre l'alcool, le poids et les maladies hépatiques chez la femme

Une recherche annoncée aujourd'hui à l'International Liver Congress[TM] 2013 révèle les effets dramatiques de l'alcool et du poids sur la santé du foie.

Les femmes devraient renoncer au vin et aux beignets suite à une récente étude qui a montré que l'association dangereuse d'une consommation élevée d'alcool et d'un indice de masse corporelle (IMC) élevé entraînait un risque accru de maladie hépatique chronique. Dans cette étude, une cohorte de plus de 107 000 femmes a été analysée afin de déterminer dans quelle mesure le poids et la consommation d'alcool d'une femme influait sur ses risques de développer une maladie hépatique chronique et d'en mourir.[1]

Dr Daniele Prati , membre du comité scientifique de l'EASL a déclaré que cette recherche avait nécessité une vaste étude afin d'évaluer l'influence combinée de la consommation d'alcool et de l'IMC d'une personne sur le foie.

Le Dr Prati a indiqué : « On sait que l'alcool et l'excès de poids sont des causes majeures de maladie hépatique chronique mais une vaste étude en population était nécessaire pour comparer l'influence que ces facteurs ont l'un sur l'autre. Fait intéressant, la recherche a montré que l'association de la consommation d'alcool et du poids d'une femme avait un impact important sur la santé du foie et l'espérance de vie ».

Plus de 107 000 femmes vivant au Royaume-Uni et ayant participé à l'étude ont été classées comme ayant un IMC faible ou élevé (< 25 ou
