Date:3/14/2012

JERICHO, N.Y., March 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Health Care Compliance Strategies, Inc. (HCCS) announced today that Via Christi Health System of Wichita, Kansas has realized a 90% conflict of interest disclosure completion rate just two months after selecting and implementing COI-SMART, the system from HCCS that streamlines the COI disclosure process.

Prior to COI-SMART, Via Christi utilized a paper-based approach and electronic systems that proved to be ineffective.  Using a system designed specifically for conflicts of interest has not only resulted in a more efficient process, but also in substantial cost savings over prior methods.

COI-SMART is a scalable, fully integrated application that provides comprehensive tools for tracking and managing COI disclosures.  COI-SMART provides for the development of multi-level branching questionnaires, automated assignment of reviewers, the development of COI management plans, and data mining tools for auditing, tracking and reporting on potential conflicts of interest.

"Via Christi had a comprehensive COI policy and process in place when they came to us," says Ben Diamond, President of HCCS. "They just lacked the tools to facilitate their process and reporting needs. COI-SMART was able to take Via Christi's COI process to the next level in an efficient and timely manner."

COI-SMART can be used for an annual COI survey process and for transactional or "elective" questionnaires. COI-SMART can bring a level of transparency to help organizations comply with the provisions of the Physician Payment Sunshine Act, as well as NIH regulations, internal policies, grant and co
