Complete Guide to LIMS and Laboratory Informatics, 2014 Edition, Released
Date:8/5/2014

ATLANTA, Aug. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- The Laboratory Informatics Institute announces the latest release of its popular free online resource for the laboratory industry, the "Complete Guide to LIMS and Laboratory Informatics, 2014 Edition".

This guide contains much more information than ever before. From the original release in 2011 of 50 pages, the guide (formerly referred to as the "LIMS Book and Buyers Guide") has grown to over 300 pages of factual information about industry trends and topics, various laboratory data management systems/applications, their vendors and more, with pricing and other details.

It has expanded to include information for all types of labs, notably adding the healthcare arena to its exhaustive content. Applications examined include Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), Electronic Laboratory Notebooks (ELNs), Clinical Data Management Systems (CDMS) and Scientific Data Management Systems (SDMS).

A new section has also been added, dedicated solely to Standards and Compliance issues. Topics include 21 CFR part 11, ISO 9000, ISO/IEC 17025, GALP, GAMP, HIPAA, ASCLD and more.

Yet another new feature of the guide is the introduction of a section containing laboratory informatics community discussions and Q & A, compiled from LIMSwiki.org and LIMSforum and other forum posts.

Along with these new features and content, the guide still contains plenty of information like price/feature comparisons, links to online resouces like videos and manuals, a questionnaire suitable for use as a template for creating RFIs/RFPs/RFQs, and more.

Visit http://www.limsbook.com to request the "Complete Guide to LIMS and Laboratory Informatics, 2014 Edition". Be sure to visit it often as the Laboratory Informatics Institute (LIMSinstitute) continues to add new products, vendors, articles, resources and more on an ongoing basis.

This resource is an objective information source and catalog of LIMS products. The information is aggregated from publicly available resources and it is totally free to everyone. Vendors can apply to edit their content and supply even more content as they choose, and vendor listings are totally free and open to vendors who provide their pricing information publicly, at the LIMSwiki site.

About the Laboratory Informatics Institute

The Laboratory Informatics Institute was established on June 19, 2006. It was created as a laboratory industry trade association for the education, standardization and promotion of the functional and professional areas of Laboratory Informatics.

The goal of the Institute is to offer an open Membership program to all individuals and organizations, which service or are employed within the laboratory industry. Our mission is to help all laboratories become more efficient and automated through the adoption of laboratory informatics applications and systems. As an open trade association, the members of the Institute help shape and direct future laboratory informatics standards. Our members help educate and inform other members and the Institute provides tools and resources to help all laboratories adopt a level of laboratory informatics that is right for them.

The Laboratory Informatics Institute was established by John H. Jones, who is the acting Managing Director and President of the Institute and is also President of LabLynx, Inc., an Atlanta-based laboratory informatics software company.
