"Horror" opens at the Guild Cinema in Albuquerque on December 12. Rising star, Perren Hedderson ("Hero Tomorrow") leads the cast of 50 New Mexico actors. The sci fi comedy was shot mostly in southern New Mexico as well as Canada, Washington, New York, London, Paris and Rome.
Mitchell wrote and directed the award winning comedy, "Get Your Stuff" (2000) about gays adopting children. "Horror In The Wind" explores gay rights, religion in government, and biogenetics.
"In spite of the comedic nature of the project, I have to confess that the biogenetics research scared the hell out of me," admits Mitchell. "Most people are probably not aware of discoveries in biogenetics that may one day, in the wrong hands, wreak havoc on our lives. This story looks at a scenario in which religious fanatics get a hold of an untested formula."
According to Weber, "The movie cost less than $53,000. Miraculous for any feature but even more so considering we have an airplane and a car explosion. Except for Allen Theaters, the people of southern New Mexico really supported this project with lots of free stuff."
"James Dobson in a jockstrap! Scared the livin' daylights outta' me."
