Chemvent Develops Innovative Low VOC Cleaning Product
Date:2/26/2013

Ann Arbor, MI (PRWEB) February 26, 2013

The product development scientists at Chemvent have recently completed the contract development of an innovative new all-purpose cleaner. In January, a small-business owner approached Chemvent with a challenge to fully develop a general purpose cleaner with specific property requirements.

Firstly, the client determined that product must have significant degreasing properties without leaving residue on the cleaned surface. Secondly, the product must have the proper rheology to ensure ease of use from the spray bottle. Thirdly, the product must meet the low volatile organic compound (VOC) requirements for all states. Finally, the cleaner must have a fresh fragrance.

Chemvent’s cleaning product formulation specialists accepted the challenge and began development. The scientists first investigated and identified green cleaning solutions, approved surfactants for household-use requirements, and fragrances. Special attention was given to fragrance choice, as these chemicals count towards the final VOC level, due to the requirements of EPA Method 24.

Chemvent’s product development experts created an emulsion blend using a water base and tested the degreasing properties and deposits left behind by FT-IR. The chemists then tested the formulation against various simulated household messes, according to ASTM standard methods. The formulation was revised multiple times for optimal performance.

Once testing and development was completed, Chemvent provided the client with the complete ownership of the entire formula. The cleaning product development experts at Chemvent successfully developed a product for a small-business that gave the client the freedom to m
