ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla., March 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Camelot Healthcare Training Institute, a post-secondary nursing and allied health care education provider in Central Florida, has been acquired by Medtech College. Camelot now joins the Medtech family of schools and will become Medtech College once appropriate state approvals have been obtained.
Medtech is nationally accredited with several campuses offering accredited training in nursing and a number of other healthcare professions.
As part of Medtech's growing network of schools, the Altamonte Springs campus will continue to embrace the core values and educational standards upon which it was established. The affiliation also reinforces the school's primary focus: educating students for extraordinary careers in nursing and other health care professions.
"We prepare students for nursing and health-related careers through personalized hands-on training in labs equipped with sophisticated medical technology so the 'Medtech' name explains exactly what we do," says President and CEO John Hopkins.
"Camelot shares our goals and passion, and has the potential to 'be extraordinary,'" Hopkins adds. "As part of Medtech, the campus will receive support for ongoing educational growth, the ability to offer new curricula and elevate courses to degree-granting programs, and the resources necessary to become accredited and provide Title IV financial aid opportunities to students, which eventually would lead to Medtech College status."
Camelot Healthcare Training Institute has been operating in Central Florida since 2009. While the Medtech name is new to the region, Hopkins says the bond between the school and its students and community will not change. As Medtech continues to expand, he expects the resources and programs at the Altamonte Springs campus will grow as well.
"We are targeting a substantial expansion in coming months that will essentially triple the school's current space," Hopkins notes. "The campus also will be bolstered by Medtech's expertise and infrastructure, coupled with a unified nursing and healthcare career education focus, and access to added resources so faculty and staff can provide students extraordinary personal experiences that enable them to be successful in creating new futures for themselves and their families."
