CARY, N.C., May 5 /PRNewswire/ -- ASG, Inc., saw continued growth in the first quarter following its acquisition of neighboring Ockham Development Group.
The February merger with the full-service contract research organization sought to expand the breadth and value of services that Cary, North Carolina-based ASG provides clients requiring functional outsourcing and staffing services or the opportunity to outsource an entire clinical trial.
ASG's CEO Jim Baker said, "I am pleased to announce that we continue to make progress in merging the two companies into one."
Through Ockham, ASG has secured new work in the therapeutic areas of oncology, anti-infectives, and vaccines. Ockham has picked up some "significant new business in the last month, and the emerging-growth biotech and pharma market seems to be picking up steam as we move into Q2," Baker said.
In the meantime, Baker indicated that ASG is "answering more functional outsourcing RFPs" and has recently won outsourcing work with one of the company's larger clients.
He also noted a staffing headcount increase over the past 45 days.
In completing the acquisition, ASG's global growth strategy will allow the firm to provide solutions that best meet the needs of existing and potential clients. At the same time, the acquisition will make it possible for Ockham - which will continue to be independently branded - to serve a wider and larger client base.
