Bluestar Silicones Introduces Three New Soft and Durable Liquid Silicone Rubber Products
Date:4/7/2008

EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J., April 7, 2008 /PRNewswire/ -- Bluestar Silicones introduces a new range of Silbione(R) brand soft liquid silicone rubber (LSR) products for the healthcare market that provide a unique combination of strong physical properties and trouble-free processing at 05-, 10- and 25-ShoreA durometers.

These new low durometer products incorporate the distinctive advantages of Bluestar Silicones' established Silbione(R) 30- to 70- ShA LSR product line, including easy processing, easy release and high performance physical properties.

Bluestar Silicones' 10 durometer LSR, Silbione(R) LSR 4310, is a breakthrough product on the market offering higher elongation and 50% greater tear strength than other 10-ShoreA durometer LSR products commercially available today.

The high tear strength, elongation and resiliency of Bluestar Silicones' new 25 durometer LSR, Silbione(R) LSR 4325, make it ideal for stretch and return type applications like balloon catheters. The company's 05 durometer Silbione(R) LSR 4305 offers soft, tacky, gel-like features ideal for cushioning applications.

"Molders traditionally had to sacrifice tear or elongation to achieve a very soft product, limiting the possible range of applications for low durometer LSRs," says Karen O'Keefe, North American Healthcare Market Manager. "Now with these new products, molders can achieve both softness and strong physicals, with tear and elongation as high as 170 ppi and 1090%, respectively. This opens the door to a much broader range of applications in the healthcare arena."

The superior tear strength and easy processing of these products offer molders the advantages of improved productivity by reducing scrap and defects in the production process.

These new low durometer LSRs are ideal for a variety of healthcare applications such as orthopedic insoles and liners, baby products and molded medical devices. For more information about Bluestar Silicones' line of
