Biomatrica Introduces SampleWare(R) Version 3.0 Software for Laboratory Sample Management
Date:1/29/2008

SAN DIEGO, Jan. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Biomatrica, the leader in room temperature biological sample stabilization, is enabling scientists to quickly and efficiently manage their biological samples with the release of SampleWare Version 3.0, a database software system for storing and organizing sample information.

Created by scientists for scientists, this software platform provides tools for uploading, tracking and retrieving sample data easily and effectively. The database is uniquely customizable, allowing users to match data to their specific sample types, as well as attach data and image files to corresponding samples.

SampleWare's online tracking of samples reflects their physical location in the laboratory, thereby enabling rapid location and retrieval. Biomatrica's product line of biostability reagents, which include DNA SampleMatrix(TM) (also sold as QIAsafe(TM)), RNAstable(TM) and CrudE SampleMatrix(TM), are bar-coded and can seamlessly integrate with SampleWare to facilitate an easy transition to online sample documentation. The SampleWare system is compatible with RFID (radio frequency identification), making it easy for labs to incorporate RFID technology into their sample management methodology.

"SampleWare is easy to use, every function is obvious, and the Quick Start Menu made everything easy to follow," said Aileen Tran, a scientist in the Brown Lab at the University of California San Diego. "Before SampleWare, when we did not have our samples organized at all, we would have to hunt through our notebooks or Excel spreadsheets to find things. I would recommend SampleWare to other labs mainly because it is so easy to use and you can update old data into SampleWare by just cutting and pasting from Excel."

SampleWare allows lab managers to import sample data into its system, copy from sample files within the system and transfer physical samples along with their corresponding data between departments. The methods for data en
