BioStorage Technologies Expands U.S. Operations with Opening of New Biorepository Facility

INDIANAPOLIS, May 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- BioStorage Technologies, the premier global provider of comprehensive sample management solutions, announced today that it has opened its new state-of-the-art biorepository facility in Indianapolis. The 60,000-square-foot facility is part of the company's strategic growth plan, and represents a 4.6MM investment by BioStorage Technologies.

Strategically placed near the second largest FedEx hub in the United States, the new facility is dedicated to the preparation, storage and cold-chain transport of human biological samples for a wide variety of customers, including academic centers, contract research organizations, donor programs and biotechnology companies. BioStorage Technologies is continuing to employ a growing number of sample management experts, making it one of the largest and most technology-driven biorepositories in the world.

The facility expansion has provided BioStorage Technologies the ability to offer sample preparation services, including automated liquid handling technology to ensure the accuracy and precision needed for high-throughput DNA and RNA extraction and verification.

The integration of these services allows BioStorage Technologies to provide customers with a sample renewal and extension process to maximize their samples for comprehensive research and development activities. Once samples are processed, aliquots of blood and/or DNA products can be retrieved and scheduled for transport to research testing sites through the company's proprietary tracking and inventory management system, ISISS®. This process ensures samples are removed, transported, processed and replaced to stora
