BioStorage Technologies Appoints New Director of Business Development for European Operations

INDIANAPOLIS, March 28, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- BioStorage Technologies, a global leader in scientific asset management, biomaterial storage, and cold chain logistics, has announced the appointment of Piet Smet as Director of Business Development for its Europe operations.

Smet joins BioStorage Technologies with more than 20 years of experience in sales and operational management within the clinical research area. In his new role, Smet will be responsible for leading the Europe sales team and overseeing the development of new and existing customer relationships.

"Piet's experience will be critical in identifying key business opportunities as we continue to expand our Europe operations to provide the most comprehensive portfolio of services for complete sample asset management," said Lori Ball, chief operating officer, BioStorage Technologies. "We are proud to welcome Piet to our team."

Prior to joining BioStorage Technologies, Smet founded and managed PS consulting, a firm providing long-term and project-based management support for service companies in the life sciences industry. Smet has also held high-level management positions with BARC Central Laboratory and MSOURCE, an international contract research organization. Piet holds a Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing degree.
