Integrated Discharge Communications Solution Demonstrated at HIMSS 2009

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, N.J., April 6 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Authentidate Holding Corp. (Nasdaq: ADAT), a worldwide provider of secure Health Information Exchange and workflow management services, today announced that it has integrated Authentidate's Inscrybe(TM) Healthcare with Nortel's Patient Discharge Solution (PDS) to improve hospital patient discharges.

"Hospitals are looking to automate and accelerate the patient discharge and placement process," explained Sanjeev Gupta, general manager, Healthcare Solutions, Nortel. "By enhancing Nortel's award winning Patient Discharge Solution with Authentidate's patient placement solution, we can help hospitals streamline the entire process, improving bed and facility utilization, and also provide a boost to the hospital's bottom line."

The integration of these two solutions provides for transparent information flow between Nortel's PDS and Authentidate's Inscrybe Healthcare using federated identities. This enables a physician or nurse in charge of the patient to initiate the discharge process at the Nortel PDS which then communicates all appropriate patient information to Inscrybe Healthcare. Now, hospital staff can complete the patient discharge placement process for post acute care placement, medical equipment, therapy and other services for patients securely over the web. The integrated solution goes far beyond a single logon for hospital staff and allows each staff member to complete their portion of the patient discharge process more efficiently and cost effectively.

The web-based portion of the service automates manual workflow processes and tracks the status of those communications, reducing the placement cycle time for post-acute care while freeing up hospital beds, equ
