Aquatic Habitats Donates Research Equipment to Gadsden State Community College
Date:7/3/2012

(PRWEB) July 02, 2012

Aquatic Habitats, of Apopka, FL, is pleased to announce their recent participation in an educational zebrafish conference co-sponsored by The University of Alabama at Birmingham and Gadsden State Community College. Beyond their participation in the event, Aquatic Habitats gladly donated high-end recirculating aquatic research equipment and a custom controlling and monitoring system to GSCC’s growing Aquaculture and biological research program, which is now focusing on zebrafish as an educational research method.

Aquatic Habitats is comprised of an expert team of biologists as well as engineers. Understanding the complexities of aquatic life, they tailor-make aquatic housing systems to meet the specific needs of individual species. Aquatic Habitats’ turnkey systems are secure, efficient and as fail-safe as possible. Clients are assured that they will get a reliable, high-quality system that will ensure the success of their research project for years to come.

The zebrafish is a tropical species native to Southeast Asia. Use of zebrafish in medical research has grown exponentially in recent years. Among others, a top reason for using zebrafish in medical research is that the cost to care for them is much lower than traditional laboratory research animals, such as mice. The Aquaculture program at GSCC aims to educate people on methods of working with, raising and caring for zebrafish.

As Aquatic Habitats and the overall industry grows, Aquatic Habitats is thrilled that the GSCC program will result in eager, capable and talented individuals that are ready to work with zebrafish in the future.
