Cantonment, FL (PRWEB) July 15, 2013
Two veteran agricultural journalists in search of better multimedia tools have created a new content-driven website, AgNewsWire.com, for agricultural media. Owned by ZimmComm New Media, AgNewsWire is an offshoot of one of the leading agricultural online websites, AgWired.com. The site is loaded with high quality photos, audio and video from industry events and features content dedicated to current industry issues. AgNewsWire.com allows reporters to write articles without having to do the time consuming legwork.
With requests from media outlets and reporters from around the world for permission to use the voluminous amount of content generated by the ZimmComm New Media editorial team, President Chuck Zimmerman decided to create one place for all of the content for use by the agricultural industry.
“Last year we covered nearly 70 different industry events in the ag and energy sectors, posted more than 1,200 audio files, placed nearly 20,000 high resolution photos in Flickr albums, and over one hundred videos," says Zimmerman who began his career more than 25 years ago as an ag radio reporter. “We couldn’t keep up with the requests, so in response we created AgNewsWire.com. The new website is the culmination of all that content, available for journalists to download and use free of charge.”
Zimmerman was one of the first reporters in the agricultural and energy industries to launch online blogs: AgWired.com and DomesticFuel.com. With the rapid success of the sites, the company then added PrecisionPays.com and WorldDairyDiary to its portfolio. From there, the Zimmermans, Cindy Zimmerman is a co-founder of the business, were pioneers in exploring social media tools and were some of the first to begin featuring photos, audio and video as part of their online reporting.
Before they knew it, they, along with their blogging team, were producing thousands of stories each year with more than half containing custom multimedia content. AgNewsWire.com now pulls together feature audio interviews, photos and video from the four sites into one place and also posts links to custom podcasts, news conferences and onsite events such as presentations from conferences. In addition, the site will also continue to be an agricultural news release distribution service as it has been since it was introduced in 2006.
Reporters and others in the industry can stay updated on the latest content by subscribing to the RSS feed, providing instant notification via email whenever new content is added.
“We know how hard it is to attend the dozens of industry events held each year, as media ourselves we know how difficult it is to cover all the news,” added Zimmerman. “We hope AgNewsWire.com will help other reporters access content for events and issues they might have otherwise missed.”
