Amerigroup Enhances Maternal Outreach Efforts
Date:10/7/2011

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Oct. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Amerigroup Corporation (NYSE: AGP) announced today the launch of an innovative pilot program in Texas designed to build upon its already successful maternal outreach efforts. The Company is teaming up with Warm Health® to provide automated statewide obstetrics (OB) assessments to screen for high-risk pregnancies, and enhance the current high-risk maternity program in the Dallas and Fort Worth areas.

The Warm Health® maternal suite includes a statewide automated interactive OB Health Risk Assessment (HRA) and is designed to expand the Company's focus on increasing health literacy and access to care while reaching more members. Expectant mothers in the Dallas-Fort Worth pilot program will receive ongoing educational outreach utilizing Interactive Voice Response (IVR) and high touch case management in an effort to reduce the number of preterm births. Throughout their pregnancy and into the weeks after delivery, these members will receive two interactive calls per week that provide important health education tips. The members also will be prompted to answer a series of questions as a way to determine their health status and to identify the need for a callback from an Amerigroup case manager. In an effort to reach as many members as possible, these calls are delivered after hours, on weekends and during holidays.

"At Amerigroup, we continually look for new ways to improve access and provide better quality of care for our expectant mothers. We have a long history of achieving great results in lowering the incidence of preterm births among our members. Working with Warm Health®, we will now identify high-risk pregnancies even sooner and further increase prenatal and postpartum visit compliance," said Aileen McCormick, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of West Region for Amerigroup. "This innovative solution will enhance our Taking Care of Baby and Me® outreach program for pregnant women, ensuring many more babies get the healthy start in life they deserve. We are excited to enhance our successful maternal outreach program by using this new technology that will allow our case managers to help even more members."

"Warm Health® is extremely happy to be working with Amerigroup on this important program," said Dan Freier, CEO of Warm Health®. "It is very rewarding to assist expectant mothers with the challenges they face. We will be able to significantly increase the number of Amerigroup members who get the help they need through participation in this program."

The program will help further the Amerigroup mission of providing the highest level of support to expectant mothers. The program will be delivered in English and Spanish.
