ALISO VIEJO, Calif., April 4, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Ambry Genetics announced today that it is the first authorized customer service provider (CSP) in Ion Torrent's new service provider program. Ion Torrent has revolutionized DNA sequencing by enabling a direct connection between chemical and digital information through the use of proven semiconductor technology. The result is a sequencing system that is simpler, faster, less expensive and more scalable than other sequencing technologies.

The Ion Torrent Authorized CSP Program gives scientists an easy way to take advantage of the speed and affordability of Ion semiconductor sequencing.

"We've been generating data with the Ion Personal Genome Machine (PGM) for six months and are excited about launching services on this platform and being the first customer service provider," said Charles Dunlop, CEO of Ambry Genetics. "This machine has the ability to change the way sequencing is done."

"Ever since the launch of the Ion PGM sequencer, we have gotten numerous requests to sequence various types of samples," said Ardy Arianpour, Vice President of Business Development at Ambry Genetics. "We are currently taking orders and lining up customers who want to experience the Personal Genome Machine."

"Ambry Genetics was one of our first early access sites and now we are very pleased to have them as our first Ion Torrent Authorized Customer Service Provider for the Ion PGM," said Maneesh Jain, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development.
