Date:2/4/2009

Non-profit tissue bank grows 21 percent helping patients in more donor communities

CENTENNIAL, Colo., Feb. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- AlloSource, one of the nation's largest non-profit providers of skin, bone and soft tissue allografts for use in surgical procedures, finished 2008 distributing more life-saving and life-enhancing allografts into its donor communities than ever before, and was recognized with five business accolades.

AlloSource is a leading U.S. tissue network and is one of the largest biotech companies in Colorado employing more than 350 people. In 2008, AlloSource processed more than 4,100 tissue donors whose gifts helped thousands of people improve their mobility and functionality. AlloSource processed more than 3,200 skin donors whose generous gifts helped save the lives of burn victims around the country.

"2008 was a particularly significant year for AlloSource. We reached milestones in all business areas and the great work of our associates was recognized with five significant awards," said Thomas A. Cycyota, AlloSource President and Chief Executive Officer. "But most importantly, we are incredibly thankful to the 4,100 people (and their families) that chose to be tissue donors, whose gifts we processed into allografts that helped people to walk again, live free from pain, avoid limb amputation and survive devastating burns."

2008 accomplishments include:

  • Organic revenue growth of 21 percent as a result of the Company's enhanced methods for tissue recovery, processing and distribution.
  • Raising the bar for a more rigorous processing environment and quality control system by registering with the FDA as a Medical Device (21 CFR Part 820) Establishment.
  • Reinvesting close to 45 percent of revenues with Organ Procurement Organization recovery agencies. These funds were used for a host of donation awareness and education programs in communities such as Buffalo, Chicago, Denver, St. Louis and Des Moines, San Diego and Cincinnati.
  • Began manufacturing Osteocel, making AlloSource the only U.S. tissue network to produce and distribute the complete range of bone growth allograft products.
  • Recognition from five prestigious awards programs:
    • Healthcare Innovator of the Year (Denver Business Journal)
    • Best Companies to Work For in Colorado (Colorado Society for Human Resources Management) - Finalist for second consecutive year; 3rd place out of 15 companies selected
    • Large Company of the Year (City of Centennial, CO)
    • 2008 Top Company (ColoradoBiz Magazine) - Finalist
    • Samaritan Institute Award (Colorado Ethics In Business Alliance) - Finalist

"Coming off of such a successful year, we are energized to continue to pursue our mission in 2009 of honoring the gift of tissue donation by responsibly processing and distributing life-saving and life-enhancing human allograft tissue for our communities." added Cycyota.
