Together with his wife, Anne, the editor is active in the development of a new health clinic designed to serve thousands of village residents in northwest China.

The ABMAC Foundation continues the work of the organization initiated by a group of professional volunteers in 1937 under the name of ABMAC, Inc. (American Bureau for Medical Aid to China, later Advancement in China).
