Many of Schultes' former students are part of ABC, either as a member of the ABC Advisory Board or a friend of the herbal community. Soejarto , PhD, at the College of Pharmacy at the University of Illinois at Chicago; Steven King , PhD, of Napo Pharmaceuticals; Mark Plotkin , PhD, director of the Amazon Conservation Team; Paul Alan Cox , director of Seacology; Robert Bye , PhD, director emeritus of the Botanical Garden of the Institute of Biology of the National Autonomous University of Mexico; and the iconic integrative medicine pioneer and best-selling author Andrew Weil , MD.
