Description For our novel expression vectors, we in-troduced a new concept, namely production of proteins under dual controls: (i) at tran-scriptional level at the T7 phage promoter, and (ii) at the DNA replication level by amplifying the plasmid copy number, The main advantage of our dual-control ex-pression plasmid is that it retains practically all of the outstanding features of the pET vectors, but in addition, when not induced, its expression background is many times lower, a feature of crucial importance for plasmids producing toxic products, which is often the case.
