Description Epithelial and endothelial cells-directed transfection reagent : jetPEI-RGD is a RGD peptide-conjugated polyethylenimine which allows targeted efficient transfection of integrin-expressing epithelial and endothelial cells. Integrins are adhesion molecules involved in cell-cell and cell-matrix adhesion processes. Many integrins, including a51 and most aV-containing proteins, bind multiple Arg-Gly-Asp (RGD) peptide sequences present in serum and extracellular matrix proteins. jetPEI-RGD/DNA complexes present many short RGD peptides on their surface and mimic the integrins natural ligands, hence the targeting. Integrin binding was shown to increase transfection of epithelial (HeLa) and fibroblast (MRC5) cells up to 100- fold in the presence of serum.
