Description Time-resolved microscopy is the ultimate tool for investigating dynamic events in cells and subcellular structures. Its applications previously have been limited at wavelengths longer than 370 nm because microscope optics do not transmit in the deep UV. HORIBA Jobin Yvon, the leader in fluorescence spectroscopy, introduces a filter-based confocal system (the DynaMic) to measure fluorescence lifetime and intensity directly under the microscope in the deep UV and visible (240850 nm). With TCSPCs unequalled sensitivity, this microscope-fluorescence system finds wide applications in biotechnology and nanotechnology. The DynaMic is especially useful for intrinsic protein fluorescence measurements, such as distinguishing tryptophan and tyrosine, with the 295 nm LED.

Uses for the TCSPC Confocal Microscope

  • Ideal for cellular and tissue analysis
  • Intrinsic protein fluorescence in the deep-UV (tyrosine, tryptophan)
  • Auto-fluorescence of proteins, DNA, and antibodies (GFP, YFP, CFP, RFP, phycoerythrin)
  • Conjugated fluorescence labels and quantum dots
  • Fluorescent dyes (rhodamine, fluorescein) and molecular beacons
  • Cell signaling, uptake, and binding
  • Nanoparticles (quantum dots and carbon nanotubes)
  • Fluorescence Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET)
  • tern-Volmer fluorescence quenching
  • Hair, skin, and thin films
  • Photosynthesis (porphyrins and chlorophyll)
