Description	The integration of 2D polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (2D-PAGE) with biological mass spectrometry is widely regarded as a core technology platform for proteomic analysis. 2D-PAGE gels offer unparalleled resolving power for complex samples limited only in the dynamic range and ability to resolve small and large proteins. Quantitative image based analysis of separated proteins has been a major development in biomedical investigations. Shimadzu Phoretix 2D Evolution software is the most advanced platform for gel analysis including cross stain analysis functionality. Features in addition to the Evolution platform - Shimadzu Phoretix 2D Expression software Cross stain analysis Protein expression comparisons between 2D gels is not only time-consuming it is also highly complex. However, one approach that has been used to differentiate between samples is to consider the application of different dyes to the gel. Each stain is applied to the sample and spots are specifically detected at different wavelengths. Cross stain analysis (CSA) supports multiplexed gel analysis and differential staining protocols such as fluorescence staining with Sypro. It is a highly advanced technology platform that will meet current and future needs in gel image analysis software. Evolution also supports visualization tools to highlight differences between gels. In the example shown above a control gel and a treatment gel have been compared to identify specific differences in protein expression.
